Racism.... In chapters one-nine there a little bit of racism, but not very much. For example, Calpurina is a black woman working for Atticus and his family, as a cook/maid. Even though Calpurnia works for Atticus and his family she isn't considered as a slave. Atticus treats Calpurina with respect and dignity. The only racism I've really read is that Calpurina is their maid and they throw in the n-word once or twice
